The story of Fast 30

In early summer 2025, a friend asked me to design an outdoor backpack that could carry a full set of trail running gear. It also needed to work for side hikes during trips, city walks, and transfers between transport stations.

So I pictured the ideal backpack for this style of travel: something lightweight and simple, with full opening access just like a suitcase.

Guided by the philosophy of Simple, Light, Efficient, we designed it and named it : Fast 30.

1. Full-length zipper opening. The contents are almost fully visible, fixing the hassle of reaching items stuck at the bottom. You can unpack it at your accommodation exactly like a suitcase.
2. Kept as simple and light as possible. When weighing every feature, we kept asking ourselves: do we really need this? We removed some lashing points and only kept essential emergency attachment points. Even the top strap is detachable. Take it off when not securing gear, so you can open and close the pack faster.
3. Improved comfortable carry system. We tested countless shoulder strap curves and firmness levels. The final design has well-balanced softness and an ergonomic curve to spread load evenly across your torso. When you put it on, weight distributes around your shoulder blades and chest. The hip belt is fully removable. With the hip belt attached, weight splits at roughly 70% on shoulders and 30% on hips — a comfortable ratio.

The Fast 30 is not a large-capacity pack. It may not suit overnight backpacking trips, except for SUL (Super Ultra Light) hikers. But for spontaneous weekend outings or well-planned long trips, it’s my immediate pick. Travel light, cross mountains and weave through cities, and keep walking.

We consider Fast 30 is the most versatile pack in the PPU lineup. We will keep testing and refining it.
